Skywatcher Star Adventurer Training @ Rhossili Activity Centre

DESCRIPTION

SkyWatcher introduced the wonderful Star Adventurer as a cheap introduction to tracking equipment for astronomers and photographers alike allowing the possibility of taking breathtaking images of the night sky. However, if set up incorrectly the Star Adventurer can leave you frustrated and dissapointed with your results!
Dark Sky Wales are offerening you the opportunity to learn about this little piece of kit and its capabilities. Our evenings tuition begins in the classroom where we will show you how to correctly set up the Star Adventurer before venturing outside and capturing some long exposure images of the wonderful Gower nightscape.

Please bring your Star Adventure, Camera, Remote, Tripod and warm clothing.

Take a tour of the night sky, viewing familiar and unfamiliar constellations of the northern hemisphere, find various deep sky objects such as the Orion Nebula and learn the correct use of binoculars and navigation via star maps. You will also be shown how to set up a telescope correctly before viewing and then photographing some of the magnificent sights in the night sky. No prior knowledge or equipment needed, but feel free to bring both!

DESCRIPTION

Dark Sky Wales presents a two days of astronomical tuition and observation set in the wonderful dark skies of Staylittle in Mid Wales. The workshop is aimed at all levels of experience with the aim of getting you more accustomed to astronomy, the night sky and taking your own images.

Accommodation

On site there are 6 Running Water Deluxe Wigwam® Cabins, each built and finished to the highest standard for the ultimate glamping experience. Each cabin sleeps up to 4 adults and or a family of 5 and provide the following facilities;

1 double bed and 1 double sofa bed with memory foam mattresses.
En-suite shower room with shower, basin, heated towel rail, toilet, and toilet rolls.
Kitchenette fitted with electric 2 hot plate hob, full sized fridge, microwave, toaster, kettle and sink.
Crockery for 4 guests (including cutlery, bowls, dinner plates, side plates, mugs, acrylic tumblers, chopping board, tin opener and wine glasses.
• Pans (includes saucepan, frypan and cooking utensils)
• Dining table and four chairs.
• Electric wall heater
• Flat screen TV; Free Sat & WiFi available
• Small torch for emergencies.
• Lockable French doors leading to private decking area with picnic bench.
• Deluxe fire pit/bbq – (firestarter packs and logs can be purchased upon arrival)

Itinerary

Day 1
4.00pm Arrive at the Hafren.
6.00pm Introductory Lecture – The basics of Astronomy

10.00pm Astronomical Observation and Astrophotography (weather permitting)
2.30am Finish for the night

Day 2

The day is left free for you to explore the wonderful scenery of Mid Wales.

7.30pm Astrophotography – Landscape and deep sky imaging.
9.00pm Break
10.00pm Astronomical Observation and Astrophotography (weather permitting)
2.30am Finish for the night

Day 3

12.00pm Leave Hafren

The event will go ahead despite weather conditions with alternative activities provided.
