Take a tour of the night sky, viewing familiar and unfamiliar constellations of the northern hemisphere, find various deep sky objects such as the Orion Nebula and learn the correct use of binoculars and navigation via star maps. You will also be shown how to set up a telescope correctly before viewing and then photographing some of the magnificent sights in the night sky. No prior knowledge or equipment needed, but feel free to bring both!

Need to Know
Strict COVID19 social distancing and hygiene measures will be undertaken during the experience. All guest will be provided with further information on booking experiences.The evening is restricted to a small group of max 8 per astronomer and the start time varies according to the time of year to ensure darkness. We generally hold the evenings in the region of LD3 8ER or within a couple of miles. Bookings can be taken for special bespoke group sessions, with the Astronomer travelling to you if requested and if the site is suitable. There are provisions to ensure that even if the weather is a little unaccommodating there will still be opportunities to use the equipment and learn about the skies, but there is a risk of the activity being cancelled in the event of forecast gales or predicted cloud cover. In this instance we will contact you in advance, but please retain your voucher/s as arrangements can be made for you to rearrange for a future date, exchange for an alternative Dark Sky Wales Stargazing Evening, or we can refund less a 10% booking fee.
