Dark Sky Wales are once again running GCSE Astronomy for 2019/2020. The course begins on September 16th 2019 at the Garth Olwg Life Long Learning Centre, Pontypridd and runs until June 1st 2020.
The GCSE astronomy provided by Dark Sky Wales offers a firm grounding in the study of the Sun-Earth-Moon system, the Solar System, the Milky Way Galaxy and the wider Universe.
The course consists of 30 Monday (2 hour) evening classes from 7pm (Observing sessions will also be included). For those who are keen to obtain the formal GCSE Astronomy qualification, two exams must be sat at Hawthorn High School on 5th June and 8th June 2020 (provisional). The exam registration and administration fees are additional to the course cost (£90) and must be paid by 1 October 2019.
Studying this course requires some scientific and mathematical knowledge and computer literacy. While this course is intended for adults, students aged 14 and upwards will be considered for enrolment on a case by case basis (please contact Allan on firstname.lastname@example.org).
Study Hours – You will receive 70 hours of tuition from our professional tutors with a similar amount of independent study.
The cost for the tuition is £400 for the entire course and can be paid in full or via two instalments of £200 first to be paid on registration second during the first week of January 2020.
